A More Perfect Union created an excellent short video on the ramifications on workers if robotaxis are widely adopted. The situation is grim. It starts with wages being driven down and ends with widespread unemployment and economic destitution.

A key point is that unlike what the robotaxi companies contend, the main concern is not at all about safety. But the lobbyists will continue to focus solely on safety because it is a very misleading argument. If they were actually trying to improve safety they wouldn’t be flooding our streets with more and more cars. Instead, they would be trying to get people to use much safer alternatives to cars, like public transportation.
